On May 1, 1979, I was commissioned as the Navy's first Uniformed Audiology officer. One of the most important experiences that I had during my adult life was my attendance at a Navy sponsored self awareness/personal growth retreat on a weekend in February 1980. This program called the Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation (CREDO), had no denominational or religious requirements for participation. It was at this retreat that I became aware of the influence of my childhood experiences on my adult life. I was very excited by the weekend and proceeded to become quite involved with the program as a volunteer lay facilitator.

In 2003 we moved to Deer Isle, Maine. Maine felt the same way about the education thing. So I helped kids that had been thrown out of school for behavior problems and needed help in math.

We bought a lovely old 1830s house and I spent my time restoring it, framing pictures for my wife and the public and working in the community. I have built a forge and am doing blacksmithing of knives for fun and hopefully for profit. We built a school building for Frederica. She teaches Oriental Brush Painting and Watercolor Painting year round. She is an international and national award-winning painter and a master educator.

Frederica and I absolutely love Maine in general and Deer Isle particularly.
