I grew up in Aroostook County far from the coast so childhood travels to the islands of Grand Manan and Prince Edward influenced my appreciation of the sea mightily. Fish and other ocean fauna have been constant subjects of my art since I’ve been a maker. College brought me to Portland where I received a BA in studio art with concentrations in drawing and printmaking. Shortly after graduating I joined the Maine Air National Guard and have served for ten years in the 265th Combat Communications Squadron in South Portland. I have kept up my craft mostly in graphite and watercolor and more recently have discovered the expressive possibilities of oil paint. Misty atmosphere, green sea and salt-crusted critters get me excited about making art here. The midcoast, Acadia and Monhegan offer the absolute peak of content to appreciate and explore and I am mighty lucky to make a life here.
